Conn-Selmer, Inc is pleased to announce that Dr. Matthew Buckmaster is a new addition to its Artist Endorsement Roster for Bach Stradivarius and King “Liberty” trombones. Hundreds of professional musicians and instructors endorse instruments from Conn-Selmer, including instruments by Bach, Selmer, C.G. Conn, King, Leblanc, Ludwig/Musser, and others.  

Dr. Matthew Buckmaster serves as Coordinator of Music Education at Elon University. He also teaches applied low brass, music theory, and directs the brass quintet. Prior to his appointment at Elon, Dr. Buckmaster served as Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he taught undergraduate conducting and directed the brass choir, trombone jazz combo, and the Herd of Thunder athletic bands. Dr. Buckmaster has also served as Assistant Director of Bands at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida, where he also taught music theory, jazz band, brass techniques, ear training, applied low brass, and directed the brass ensemble. Dr. Buckmaster has also taught band and music in both public and private high, middle, and elementary schools.

 “Matthew Buckmaster is a wonderful trombonist and an educator with an excellent reputation”, says Keith Oshiro, visiting professor of Trombone at the University of South Florida. “He is an in-demand soloist, section player, recording session musician, and educator. He is clearly a rising star in the arts”. As a performer, Dr. Buckmaster has extensive experience in a diverse array of musical genres. He has performed with the Sarasota Opera Orchestra, the Opera Tampa Orchestra, and the Imperial Symphony Orchestra. He also performed at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World for eight years, and was a regular performer at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay as well. He has appeared with such groups as the Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras, the Three Irish Tenors, Sam Rivers, the Sammy Kaye Orchestra, and the Epcot Candlelight Orchestra.
